Teaching & Mentoring

UX Teaching, Coaching & Mentoring –
Transferring knowledge effectively

For over 20 years, I have been teaching aspiring UX professionals how to design digital products that people actually use – research-driven and practice-oriented.
I teach and coach at the intersection of UX, technology and responsibility – in academia, research and industry.

Teaching philosophy for UX education & coaching

Three principles shaping my teaching

Research-based

UX is not a gut-feeling discipline. I teach the theoretical foundations from psychology, HCI and design research – so students understand why certain methods work.

Practical & applicable

Theory without practice is useless. That’s why my students work on real projects with actual users – from research planning to testable prototypes.

Collaborative & discursive

The best solutions emerge through exchange. My seminars thrive on discussion, peer review, and teamwork – just as it will be later in professional life.

Where and what I teach

Dr. Peter Klein conveys usability not only as theory, but also as vivid, hands-on practice. This immediate practical applicability especially inspired the students.

UX Workshops, Trainee Programs & Coaching for Companies

Tailored workshops & structured development programs

Train-the-Trainer: Multiplying UX expertise internally

Do you have experienced UX designers on your team who should pass on their knowledge to colleagues? I show your senior UXers how to create didactically valuable content, facilitate workshops, and communicate complex UX topics clearly.

Typical contents

  • Knowledge transfer methodology (constructive alignment, learning objectives)
  • Workshop design & facilitation (timeboxing, energizers, facilitation)
  • Giving feedback & supervising group work
  • Presentation techniques for UX topics
  • Creating documentation & learning materials

Result: Your senior UXers can pass on knowledge internally, onboard new employees, and act as multipliers.

Building a trainee program from scratch

Would you like to establish a structured trainee program? I support you from concept to implementation – tailored to your company culture and UX maturity.

WoMent² Mentoring Program

Voluntary engagement since 2021

Voluntary engagement

Since 2021, I have volunteered as a mentor in the WoMent² program at Heilbronn University. WoMent² stands for Women’s Mentoring & Networking and supports female students and graduates in starting their careers and developing professionally.

As a mentor, I support young women on their path into the UX industry – with professional advice, networking contacts, and honest feedback. It is important to me to give back and empower the next generation.

The mentoring sessions helped me sharpen my career goals and approach job interviews with more confidence. The honest insights into everyday UX work and the practical tips for my portfolio were especially valuable.
